Summertime Cherry Picking!

It's 4th of July week, which still seems crazy to me! Does that mean summer is halfway over?! As much as I love fall, I still have so many things I want to do this summer with Evie! Time needs to slow down!  One of the things one our summer bucket list that we finally got to do this past weekend was fruit picking! It is prime cherry picking season here in the Midwest, and I was dying to go pick some tart cherries. Tart cherries are perfect for baking with and also for sealing away in mason jars to make Kompot. What's kompot you ask?  Read here for details! My family immigrated in from Poland so I grew up drinking kompot made from all types of fruit. It's a wonderful natural juice made from real fruit that is just delicious...and that Evie LOVES! There are plenty of recipes online for making it.  Here's more info and recipes. Thanks to our cherry picking adventure, we have about 20 jars ready for at least 4-6 months of deliciousness! :)

Back to the picking...we went to a cute little farm about an hour from our house. Evie loved running around the farm and chasing the farm owners' black lab.  We lucked out with beautiful weather and were really able to have a wonderful day.   I'm already looking forward to more fruit picking, including: raspberries, blueberries, peaches, and apples! :)

Re-fueling ;)
Don't worry...daddy was just outside the frame ready to catch her if she decided to jump ;)
